As I’m experimenting with my journalistic writing, I’m realizing more and more how much my political beat can be jargony or simply just a hard read for my audience to fully finish. And I don’t want that. I want the opposite of that. I mean, sure, maybe the beat itself is inherently more boring to people than others, but that’s no excuse. I really need to and want to work on bettering audience engagement in a topic that’s hard to do that in. But I’ll find a way.

I’m finding that my flow is getting better though, so there’s an improvement.

Must-do list: 

• Make the articles in my beat more likable, accessible, and readable.
