“Don’t Shoot Anyone.” Another Video of UW Shooting Suspect Surfaces

Yet another video has surfaced showing the suspects in the Jan. 20 Red Square shooting shortly before their violent confrontation with an anti-fascist protester outside a lecture given by Milo Yiannopoulos.

The video captures the same interaction as one previously covered by Seattle Weekly, but is in closer proximity to the two suspects, Marc Hokoana and Elizabeth Hokoana, fans of Yiannopoulos. The previous video Seattle Weekly covered had Marc exclaiming, “They have to start it!” This most recent YouTube video has him telling Elizabeth, “Don’t shoot anyone” (heard at 0:18).

In this newly uncovered video, one can see Elizabeth immediately at the bottom left of the screen donning brunette pigtails, and a dark brown, puffy jacket with a fur hood. As the camera person walks forward, Marc can be seen facing toward the protester line in a dark leather jacket with a brown hoodie underneath (0:08 in the video). The camera then pans and follows him as he walks toward Elizabeth (0:13).

This is where the recently discovered video lines up with what was captured in the last, but from a different vantage point. As Marc approaches Elizabeth, she looks worried but what she says isn’t quite audible. Marc then throws his hands up, and says “Hey, calm down, don’t shoot anyone,” (0:18) as the camera slightly pans away mid-sentence.

A few minutes later, the 34-year-old protester was shot in the stomach; Marc later told police he shot the man in an act of self-defense. He turned himself into police that night, and was released. The victim was taken to Harborview with life threatening injuries. The investigation is on-going.

Police say they’ve hired a video technician to analyze video captured that night. The case is being handled by the UW Police Department, with some technical assistance from the Seattle Police Department.
